A good oral health is important for the rest of your body. Mayo Clinic says that without proper dental hygiene your body will not manage to keep the bacteria in your mouth at a healthy level. This could cause infection and gum disease.
According to WebMD, tartar builds up on your teeth from foods and bacteria, and makes it harder for you to properly clean your teeth. This can lead to cavities and infections. You should know that there are a few natural remedies that can help remove tartar on your own, even though doctors recommend a professional cleaning from your dentist every six months.
Apple Cider Vinegar
You should soak your toothbrush in apple cider vinegar, then brush your teeth as usual. Wash your mouth well. Do this once or twice per week, because the apple cider vinegar can damage your teeth if you use it too often.
Brush with Baking Soda
Simply pour a little baking soda into a small container, wet your toothbrush, put some baking soda on it and brush. For more cleansing power, you can mix a pinch of salt into the baking powder. You can also make a mouthwash from baking soda. You will need 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1 cup of water, 10 drops of lemon oil, 4 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin and 1 teaspoon of Aloe Vera gel. Mix all the ingredients well. You can use this mixture once or twice a day.
Nosh on some fruits:
Take some strawberries and tomatoes, rub them on your teeth and let them sit for 5 minutes. This will soften the buildup. After that, rinse your mouth with baking soda and warm water for a brighter smile. You can also use bell peppers, berries, lemons and oranges.
Additionally, there are a few other things you can implement into your oral health regimen. For example, quit smoking, brushing and flossing regularly, and eating spicy foods.
